In the summer of 2024, Witted Megacorp Oyj found itself in a transition phase within its finance department, with limited resources and an ongoing recruitment process for a new Business Controller. To ensure continuity and stability during the recruitment period, the company chose to strengthen its team with NIS’s experienced finance consultant Annika Tuomala, who stepped into the role of interim Business Controller.

Annika quickly integrated into Witted’s finance team and contributed strong expertise in accounting, reporting, and forecasting. She was responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day financial processes, developing reporting routines, and maintaining high-quality financial controls. Once a permanent Business Controller had been recruited, her role evolved to supporting the team during the critical year-end closing period.

Toward the end of the year, Witted identified a need for advisory support as the company prepared its first sustainability report in accordance with the new EU directive CSRD. Witted found an ideal partner in NIS ESG expert Aura Koikkalainen, who guided and supported the development of comprehensive ESG reporting aligned with the new regulatory requirements.

Aura deepened the company’s double materiality assessment, led the ESG data collection process, and produced a preliminary sustainability report. She also strengthened the organization’s understanding of the new requirements by conducting internal training sessions.

In close collaboration with finance leadership and operational management, Annika and Aura contributed to ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. They provided valuable insights to support key business decisions. With support from NIS consultants, Witted’s finance team was able to prepare financial statements and the annual report on time, while ensuring regulatory compliance and managing communication with external auditors for a smooth audit process.

Throughout the transition period, NIS experts contributed their expertise and significantly strengthened Witted’s financial reporting and ESG reporting processes, thereby supporting the company’s continued growth and stability.
