A well-functioning collaboration – for the second time
Sofigate is one of the Nordic region’s leading business technology companies. When their Group Financial Controller left her role in the summer of 2024, NIS consultant Annina Kaaja joined already at the end of July as Interim Financial Manager.
“This was the second time we chose to work with NIS interim consultants. We knew they would be able to deliver the right competence again this time. Annina quickly familiarized herself with the critical tasks and took on the key role in an excellent way,” says Sofigate’s CFO Virpi Hentunen.
Bringing in an interim solution made it possible to quickly fill a business-critical role, while also giving the company time to define the future scope of the role before a permanent recruitment was completed.
One-to-one meetings strengthened open dialogue
In her role as Interim Financial Manager, Annina was responsible for group reporting and led a team within external accounting. In her leadership, she fostered strong dialogue within the team, including through regular one-to-one meetings.
“Sofigate had a highly competent team and there was strong mutual trust. At the same time, I wanted to create a structured space for open dialogue, where each employee had the opportunity to raise questions that do not always come up in daily work,” Annina explains.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, Annina worked with group reporting, including monthly reporting and financial closing. She was also responsible for cash flow forecasting and liquidity management, monitoring fixed costs, and participated in projects related to mergers and VAT. Her ability to simplify complex issues was particularly appreciated, especially in the development of cost tracking.
The right competence – at the right time
Sofigate had not been able to fill the role in time before the previous Group Financial Controller left. The collaboration with NIS lasted for a total of seven months. When the role was later advertised at the end of 2024, a permanent solution was found relatively quickly, and Annina also handled the onboarding of her successor.
