Certego is the leading provider of security solutions in the Nordic region, with 18 offices in Finland, over 70 offices across the Nordics, more than 1,200 employees, and a turnover exceeding 200 million euros. In early 2021, Certego needed an interim Financial Controller to cover a parental leave. Contact with NIS led to a collaboration lasting approximately 1.5 years, during which NIS supported Certego with various financial administrative tasks as well as in the definition and testing of a new enterprise system.

The collaboration began with the role of Financial Controller, where the responsibilities mainly included external accounting, group reporting, taxation, and overall responsibility for financial systems. During the collaboration period, an ownership change took place at Certego, when the Swedish private equity firm Nalka Invest AB acquired the company. NIS’s support played a central role when Certego, in connection with the transaction, was separated from its previous parent company. At the same time, the implementation of a new enterprise system was initiated, where NIS’s expertise was utilized in both requirements specification and testing. The project involved work across Finland and the rest of the Nordics.

Certego has been very satisfied with NIS’s competence and professional approach. “We have been very pleased with the collaboration. Milla, who joined as Financial Controller, quickly familiarized herself with the responsibilities, routines, and month-end closing processes. She also played a key role when Certego was separated from its parent company in connection with the corporate transaction and when we established a completely new reporting model for the Certego group,” says Certego’s CFO Akseli Alinikula, and continues: “In addition to her work, Milla also became a valued member of our finance team, and we will truly miss her positive attitude and drive after the project ends.”

Based on the positive feedback, collaboration with NIS may continue in the future in similar needs, and Certego is ready to recommend NIS’s consultants also for more advanced assignments within external accounting.
